WAYNE Hogbin and Pamela Dawson, the couple who brought exotic homewares and jewellery to Newcastle, are planning a big life change.Their 16 Lloyd Street, Merewether, house is on the market with Sonia Walkom for $1.995 million.They plan to swap the spectacular coastal views, four bedrooms and balconies built to entertain for a motorhome and a tour around Australia.Wayne and Pamela established Inside Out, at Parry Street, Newcastle, and Kasumba Jewels of the World, at The Junction, and have been retired for 17 years.Now they would like to make that retirement a moveable feast.Royal exchangeQUEEN Elizabeth II has finally sold her Wangi Wangi police station and residence on the shores of Lake Macquarie for $534,000.Snippets cannot divulge the names of the buyers and can only say they are Wangi locals and that neighbours can expect to see some changes at the 242 Watkins Drive property in about 18 months' time.Keys Real Estate's Patricia Kellehear had a chuckle when she saw the documents name such a prominent official vendor even though, in reality, the NSW government is doing the selling.The property, on 1365.8 square metres, sold for above the reserve after four potential bidders registered for the auction on March 13, Ms Kellehear said.She said the two valuers' pre-auction assessments of between $540,000 and $590,000, were close to the mark.The former police station has been vacant for 15 years.Ms Kellehear said residents were relieved the first step has been taken towards breathing new life into the property, which has been crying out for some attention.New adventure awaitsDARREN Carlson and Kim Gill are saying goodbye to Tighes Hill but not venturing too far for their next property adventure.Darren, an electrician-turned-financial-planner, and Kim, who is in marketing and communications in rural medicine, have bought a cottage at 150 Crebert Street, Mayfield, after selling their 18 Hewison Street, Tighes Hill, house.18 Hewison Street sold to a Sydney couple for $499,000 two days before the first open house and set a record for the street, said Harcourts Advantage Mayfield's Mark Dowling.Mr Carlson did most of the renovation work at Hewison Street and said he couldn't wait to restore the beauty of the Crebert Street house, which was built sometime between 1910 and 1920.The couple paid $395,000 for the cottage at a February auction.Mayfield is becoming a suburb people don't want to leave, Mr Dowling said.He said several clients had opted to stay in Mayfield, either trading up to a bigger house or buying something similar a few streets away.Mount View marvelPAUL and Rosalea Murphy have asked for expressions of interest in their 241 Bimbadeen Road, Mount View, property.It is a modern house with clean lines, surrounded by a productive garden of fruit trees and herbs.Rosalea has worked as a designer in film and theatre for 25 years and, with Paul, runs Hunter Valley Design, their King Street, Newcastle, business.The Murphys aimed for elegance and practicality with the steel and tallow wood building, which has hardwood floors and expansive living areas that open onto a wide verandah.The views take in the Mount View vineyards, a picturesque part of the Hunter which is also gaining a reputation for fine dining.Agent Shelly Jurd of Jurd's Real Estate said the land area around the house is about 0.64 hectares (1.6 acres).She assured prospective buyers it was "dog-proofed".Expressions of interest close 5pm, April 14.What the doctor orderedNEWCASTLE doctor David Goldberg says life won't be the same after the sale of his Wangi Wangi house.The architect-designed house at 273 Dobell Drive is being sold by listing agents Daniel Relf and Beth Thomas, of McGrath Estate Agents.The third-level deck outside the master bedroom is Dr Goldberg's favourite spot."From there I can see across Lake Macquarie, over the top of Pulbah Island and beyond, perhaps seven or eight kilometres, towards the Central Coast," he said.The house is set on 1060 square metres and has four bedrooms, the master with an en suite.There is a ground-floor rumpus room with a bar, and a four-car garage."Each floor has an average height of about three and a half metres.
